Soli Deo Gloria

Harry Hammerling

pastor / elder

I was raised Jewish, had a Bar Mitzvah and 5 years of Hebrew, as a child.  Kathy and I were married in 1971 and I became a Christian in 1978.  At that time, I felt God's call to ministry and went to Biola University from 1980-82, graduating with a BA in Biblical Studies with an OT major.  I then went to Talbot Seminary and graduated in 1988 with a M.Div. with an OT major.

Since that time, I have been an Elder in a couple of churches, Pastor of Evangelism at one church, and provided pulpit supply and interim pastoring as required.  In 2007, Kathy and I started a church in central California with three other couples.  In 2013, after two of the couples had moved and one passed away, I became the only Pastor until July 2020, when we moved to Minden.  About 6 months later, we started attending CVBC.

Glenn Orr

pastor / elder

I first heard and understood the gospel when I was in the 4th grade. That is when I responded to God's saving grace. I was baptized at the age of 19, and at that time went through a period of intense spiritual growth. It wasn't until I was about 45, however, that I began to comprehend that God's grace wasn't just something I needed to enter the Christian life, but that it was freely available to me every day of my life. Now 12 years later I still find wonder in the grace and forgiveness of Jesus each and every day. And I am continually learning what life in Christ can and should be.

What a privilege it is to serve at Carson Valley Bible Church, where the life giving gospel of God's great love demonstrated in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus is boldly and clearly proclaimed each and every week.

Rod Milton

Pastor/Elder

After 29 years of ‘attending church’ the Gospel came alive through the broadcast ministry of "Insight for Living."  It was at the conclusion of a several week presentation of the Book of Romans, that the choice was made clear to me, and through God’s directing hand I made a decision for Christ in the young peach orchard I was pruning.  Thirty eight years on, God’s devotion and mercies remain fresh and new each morning.  We see them also in the testimony and joy of those we fellowship with, reminding us always of His enduring faithfulness.

"For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love,  may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,  and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God."

Eph 3:14-19

Julie Baker

Operations Administrator

I first accepted Christ and was baptized at 12 years old.  As I grew into adulthood, I walked away from faith, and served only myself and my family.  It was during the teenage years of my children, that God got a hold of me when I attended a women's retreat with my mom and aunt (after a few years of being invited), in 1995.

My spiritual journey really began, as I sought out the truth - and my life changed dramatically.  I began to attend church regulary, joining in studies and the choir and worship team.

I moved to Nevada in October of 2021, and sought out a bible-teaching church.  I've been at CVBC ever since, appreciating the realness of the Gospel, which is taught every weekend, and the application of the Word to our lives today.  I'm so very blessed to be able to work in this environment and serve our church family!
